FINALS DAY REPORT 2009

 

The 2009 club finals was played in glorious sunshine. Players gathered early on Saturday morning.

 

10am - mens singles and ladies singles got underway, a tight game on rink 7 between Norman and Rob was a great start to the morning with Norman coming off the better with a 21-19 victory, this was followed by a convincing win for Maggy who battled to a 21-10 win over Jean.

 

12.30 - The mixed pairs and ladies pairs got underway with two interesting encounters, Joe and Carol who in early rounds had beaten all their oppenents convincingly played Arthur and Sylvia, with the latter prevailing with a high scoring contest.

The ladies pairs was won by Beryl and Dorothy who beat Shirley and Yvonne, in a enthralling encounter with the two skips meeting in Sundays ladies triples. 

 

1.30pm - This was the match that caused the most excitement in the club Rob -v- Rose, Rob who had earlier just missed out on winning the mens singles and was out to win his first singles title, but had to play his wife. Rose led early in the contest but Rob fought back, and was within 2 shots of victory. Leading 19-14 Rob held the two shots he needed to win Rose with 1 bowl to go drew a toucher to the jack to fight back. She then pushed on to win 21-19, and round off a great day for the two of them.
