SEASON NEWS -
20th April - A brilliant start to the season for Chalfont, a good game away to Aston Clinton saw us come back with a well deserved 85-70 win. The weather stayed fine and a very enjoyable afternoon out. Well done to all the teams with 2 triples winning and 3 losing. Our highest winning triple was Lee Crees, Ros Clare [Captain for the day] and Arthur Thomas.
23rd April - A good afternoon of bowling at home against Uxbridge for our first home game of the season and it couldnt have been better, with Chalfont finishing on top with an overall score of 61-56 against very spirited oposition.
26th April - Another good win against Rickmansworth B.L. at home, the overall score finished at 98-74. Well done to Beryl Ralleys team for being top rink.
27th April - A lovely afternoon after a morning of raining produced some good bowling, but Chalfont were beaten on most rinks as we fell to a miserable 60-132 loss. Our winning rink came again from the help of Beryl and her team.
30th April - An away game at Mill was cancelled due to a lack of support, a shame to see for any club at the start of the season.
1st May - An evening game for the men at Amersham brought a poor result but some very good bowling kept us in it with a loss of 41-73, well done to Arthur, George and Bill for being Chalfont's only top rink. Again Mike and the captains struggled to make a strong team with people pulling out due to injuries and no-one available to stand in, leaving Mike in some trouble. Well done to Mike for putting teams together every week he is having alot of problems in finding people to play matches.
3rd May - Another home game this time against Chesham saw Chalfont lose again by 86-93 a very close score against one of the best clubs in the county if not the country, that can't be bad!
4th May - Another wonderful afternoon at Wendover a match many members enjoy with the warm welcome we always receive. But Chalfonts losing streak continued falling to a 60-101 loss.
5th May - Our fortunes changed at home to Croxley Guild with a strong win of 101-83, a game I know i enjoyed on a hot afternoon. well done to Ros for finding members to play in this game.
7th May - An away game at Kings Langley brought a very close game, with Chalfonts Midweek winning streak ever increasing with a 68-63 win.
8th May - A ladies game against a very strong Chesham ladies team, brought Chalfont an awesome victory by 39 shots [ 70-31], well done to all the women involved in this brilliant win and lets hope these wins can continue.
10th May - A 3 counties encounter with Flackwell Heath brought another loss for Chalfont, 130-69 But a Highest rink of Sylvia , Tony Olive and Arthur 18-12 gave Chalfont some points.
11th May - Chalfonts first Chiltern and Thames match at home to Loudwater was a very close encounter with Chalfont just being pipped 48-43 in the league but a strong win in the friendlies saw Barry, Bernard, George and Bob being top rink. And the league top rink saw Maggie, Jean and Mike get some luck in the last end, being leading by 1 in the match and 1 down on the end with Loudwater having last wood a narrow heavy bowl saw a Chalfont bowl being smashed into the head and grabbing shot wood for 2 shot win for Mike, Well done.
Well done to Mike in the first round of the Champion of Champions competition as he had a hard fought win, by 21 shots to 19. We all wish you luck in the second round. [ ALL EBA AND EWBA MATCHES CAN BE FOUND ON www.bowlsengland.co.uk]
14th May - The men had a poor week in the TVL losing to Richings Park 95-55 and scoring no points,
16th May - A close game saw Chalfont fall to a 75-56 loss to Denham scoring 3 valuable points.
17th May - A very close game at Cippenham saw Chalfont lose 101-98, highest rink being Brian, Jean and Norman scoring a solid 23-11 win. Again Mike struggled for players and borrowed afew Cippenham players to make up the numbers.
18th May - Another Close game this time away at Windsor Great Park, a breezy afternoon brought another close loss by 2 shots 118-120, Top rink was again won by Norman and Brian playing with Pam and Jamie.
Well done to Arthur and Joe who battled past a team from Loudwater in the Over 55 men's pairs, good luck in the next round. This was followed by a close loss for Captain Mike in the Champion of Champions to a strong player from Wexham.
